BAG END INTRODUCES THE AF1A FOR 2000:

ALL-NEW, IMPROVED VERSION OF AIR FORCE FAVORITE

More than 20 years ago, one of the products that help put fledgling BAG END Loudspeaker Systems on the map was a loudspeaker system called the AF1.

Now at the dawn of a new millennium, BAG END has re-engineered that original workhorse, literally from top to bottom - and the result is the all new BAG END AF1A - a versatile, full-range three-way, loudspeaker system in one enclosure with a frequency response from 40 Hz. to 19 kHz.

It is being shown for the first time at the 2000 Winter NAMM Show, Feb. 3-6 in Los Angeles.

The high frequency transducer is a 1" exit compression driver with a 1.8" compression driver, bi-radial horn. The mid-frequency transducer is a 12' cone with a 2.5" voice coil. The low-frequency transducer is an 18" cone with a 3" voice coil.

"Probably the most important feature of the AF1A is that it's a `plug-and-play' system, said BAG END President James P. Wischmeyer. "No tweaking, no EQing is necessary - just plug it in to your amp and you have a sound system ready to go."

A couple of other features are worth noting: the AF1A, of course, contains BAG END's trademark Time-Aligned technology; and the top end of the AF1A contains the same technology as BAG END's outstanding TA2000, nominated last year as the best new speaker of 1999.

"The AF1A's crossover network is a passive Time-Aligned equalizer at 2.5 kHz. and 125 Hz. The Time-Align technology assures that complex, transient, acoustical signals are presented to the listener in the same relationship the original signal at the input." Wischmeyer said. "In other words, the speaker faithfully reproduces the signal put into it, resulting in dramatic clarity, realism and overall pleasant sound."

The all-new BAG END AF1A is available in three different models, depending on the application: the AF1A-C, the AF1A-R and the AF1A-I.

The AF1A-C is covered with rugged black carpet, and comes standard with two recessed handles and eight interlocking corners.

The AF1A-R is the road version of the system is similar to the AF1A-C with the added standard accessories of two casters, and a solid grille cover to the protect the face of the speaker during transport.

The AF1A-I is the installation version of the system. It is finished with a black, textured lacquer and optional rigging points for easy flying.

BAG END did not pull the AF1 designation out of thin air - the very first version of the AF1 was originally developed in the 1970's for the Air Force Band at Wright/Patterson Air Force Base.

"The new generation AF1A is the best version of the AF1 we have ever built," Wischmeyer said. "It's probably the most thoroughly road-tested speaker we manufacture. It's basic design has stood the test of time - and like fine wine - has only gotten better in succeeding generations."

BAG END Loudspeaker Systems is in its third decade of manufacturing professional quality loudspeaker systems and components. Over that period, it has built an enviable reputation among performing artists, recording studios, post production facilities and sound reinforcement companies for innovation, high quality sound reproduction, reliability and ruggedness.
