Bag End helps Pennsylvania
Sound Company - Jack Nissley, principal of Live Sound Productions
in Elizabethtown, PA, pauses as he carries a Bag End TA6000 speaker
into the venue for a recent Chuck Mangione concert in Elizabethtown.
Live Sound Productions has carved out an enviable, regional market
for itself in south central Pennsylvania, providing audio production
services for concerts and festivals of all sizes in that area
for nearly a quarter of a century. Nissley has more than 30 Bag
End loudspeaker systems in his inventory.
Founded in the late 1970's by Jack Nissley, Live Sound Productions
has provided audio production services for concerts and festivals
of all sizes in that area for nearly a quarter of a century.
"Because of the diverse nature of the events we provide sound production for, our inventory includes a wide variety of equipment to handle a range of requirements and tastes in audio reproduction," Nissley said. "From microphones to amplifiers and speaker cabinets, our niche is decidedly high fidelity pro audio."
A couple of years ago, Nissley heard about BAG END's exclusive ELF (extended low frequency) technology for bass reproduction. "After listening tests confirmed what we saw on paper, we purchased eight BAG END D18E-R double-18 cabinets," Nissley said. "After using them for several assignments and experimenting with different amps, we purchased eight BAG END D12 double-12 bass cabinets and eight BAG END TA6000 mid-range cabinets for smaller venues."
"We found that artists recognized the BAG END name and appreciated the BAG END's Time-Align design," he said.
"We provide sound for a series of outdoor concerts in the area, including Long's Park Amphitheater Foundation, the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz, Nissley Vineyards and Music at Gretna, to name a few events," he said. "And we get rave reviews for our sound work, in large measure thanks to our BAG END cabinets."
In 1999, Live Sound Productions decided to upgrade its "A" system and, as part of the upgrade, added eight BAG END Sapphire high-output cabinets, a highly-versatile, wedge-shaped speaker system that is loaded with a 3-inch copper voice coil driving a custom designed, high-frequency wave guide for the top end and a 12-inch cone for the mid- and low ranges.
"Maynard Ferguson was our first guinea pig with our new system, and he loved it," Nissley said. "SPLs were almost ear-splitting with his style of trumpet licks, but the BAG END Sapphires handles the job smoothly, without sounding harsh."
Some other artists who have played through our Live Sound Production' systems include Branford Marsalis, Chick Corea, John Scofield and Joey D'Franchesco, to name just a small fraction of the artist list that Nissley proudly rattles off.
The Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz heartily endorses Live Sound Productions' work. "Live Sound successfully captures the essence of jazz music - its warmth and intimacy - without overamplification - a rarity these days," said Steve Patton, a spokesman for the group.
Live Sound Productions also designs and installs permanent sound systems as well as offering acoustical consulting, Nissley pointed out. "Our staff provides a good mix of professional audio technical expertise and professional experience," he said.
