BAG END UNVEILS NEW TA6000-S “STAIRCASE”

Once again the research and development people at BAG END Loudspeaker Systems listened to sound reinforcement designers - and provided a solution.

It's an old axiom - but nonetheless true - that necessity is the mother of invention. In this case, two sound designers came to BAG END with the same problem and very nearly the same time.

One designer was planning a system for a house of worship, the other a sound system for an ocean-going cruise ship. Both wanted BAG END's TA6000 mid-range loudspeaker systems to complement their system design, and both hit upon the solution of installing the enclosures between the treadles of staircases - but as compact as they are, the TA6000 cabinets didn't quite fit.

Thus was born the new BAG END TA6000-S. Call it “S” for stairs, or “S” for Special, the TA6000-S contains the same high-quality components as the standard TA6000-I installation speaker system, but it's designed to fit between the risers in a staircase. Mounted horizontally, it's just 6.75 inches high - narrow enough to fit between steps of a standard staircase. Risers typically measure between 6.75 and 8 inches high.

Otherwise, the BAG END TA6000-S is identical to the TA6000-I: a Time-Aligned compact, speech range high-output loudspeaker system that offers both high fidelity and high efficiency.

“Our development staff did a tremendous job because this is a great sounding mid- to high-frequency enclosure,” James Wischmeyer, president of BAG END, said. “When used in conjunction with a BAG END INFRA extended low-frequency system, the TA6000-S provides maximum performance in a very small package.”

The TA6000-S contains a pair of low-frequency, 6.5" cones with 1.5 voice coils, and a high-frequency radial horn with a 1.8" titanium diagram. The front is covered with a black coated, 16-gauge perforated steel grille and is equipped with three rigging points.
