Bag End's new TA5000 speaker system ($1040) is a completely overhauled replacement for its workhorse TA15 speaker. The TA5000 is a two-way system designed for general sound reinforcement or any applications requiring full-range speakers, such as electric keyboards, acoustic instruments, guitars, vocals, and drums.

The TA5000 features Bag End's proprietary Time Aligned crossover technology (with the crossover set at 1.7 khz) and employs a 15-inch low-frequency driver and a high-frequency driver and a high-frequency transducer with a 1-inch exit compression driver. Power-handling capacity is 200W continuous sine wave or 800W instantaneous peak into 8Ohms, with a frequency response of 50 Hz to 19 kHz (+/-3 dB). There are five input connectors: one dual banana, two 1/4-inch phone jacks, and two Neutrik Speakon jacks.

The TA 5000's trapezoid-shaped cabinet, constructed of 7-ply poplar, is covered in black carpet and has a 16-guage black vinyl-coated steel grille. There are two recessed handles, and the speaker can be mounted on a stand using a built-in 35 mm adapter. The TA500 measures 22.5 (W) by 28 (H) by 18.5 (D) inches and weighs 70 pounds. Bag End; tel.
